Zak Nugent

Zak Nugent

Chief Executive Officer

Zak Nugent is the Chief Executive Officer of Scalar where he actively manages the day-to-day operations of the firm. Zak has been involved in all phases of the firm’s development since joining in 2009. He has overseen more than 2,000 valuation engagements for tax, financial reporting, transaction advisory, and litigation consulting purposes. Zak has provided valuation consulting to management teams and boards of directors for deferred compensation, purchase price accounting, mergers and acquisitions, capital fund raising, secondary transactions, equity buybacks, shareholder disputes, and succession planning. Zak currently sits on the board of directors for Excalibur Industries, Inc. Zak received his BS in Economics from the University of Utah.

Matt Tillotson

Matt Tillotson

Managing Director

Matt Tillotson oversees all valuation and transaction advisory engagements as the Managing Director at Scalar. He has valued 1,000’s of companies for tax, compliance, litigation, and estate planning purposes. These companies have ranged from pre-revenue startups to pre-IPO and public entities across various industries. Matt has served as a valuation expert witness for bankruptcy and corporate litigation. He has performed fund valuations for private and public PE funds. Matt graduated cum laude with a degree in finance from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University and he was the recipient of the 2015 National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts 40 Under 40 award.

Mitch Rencher

Mitch Rencher

General Counsel & Head of Litigation Consulting

Mitch is General Counsel and Head of Litigation Consulting of Scalar. He has spent his professional career performing business valuations, quantifying damages for litigation, and assessing litigation risk. Mitch previously served as a Vice President in Duff & Phelps’ Litigation Consulting Group and a litigation risk analyst for a division of Credit Suisse. Mitch graduated Cum Laude from Brigham Young University with a B.A., MBA, and JD.
